How to connect ChatGPT to ands and control your computer
ChatGPT can add an MCP server by URL through Developer mode, on paid plans and on the web only. On some plans OpenAI limits it to read-only actions, and in business workspaces an admin has to turn it on. It isn’t available on the free plan.

The message to send your agent
Hi ChatGPT, I want to connect you to my computer through ands (ands.sh) so you can work on it for me. Here is the MCP server link for my computer: [your link from ands] Please add it as an MCP server by URL (remote MCP, sometimes called a custom connector) and tell me when the connection works. If you can't add it yourself, tell me exactly where in your settings I add it. Once connected you can see what's on the screen, click, type and open apps on my computer. Anything sensitive (sending, paying, deleting, installing or signing in) waits for my OK, so when you get an approval request, pass its link on to me.
What to send ChatGPT
- “Open the expenses spreadsheet on my computer and sum up the month”
- “What’s open on my screen right now?”
Your agent asks, you approve
We keep only a fingerprint of the link, not the link itself. Pressing “Disconnect” cancels it at once.
