How to connect Poke to ands and control your computer

Poke is an assistant you text, and it can connect an MCP server by URL. Once ands is connected you can text it from your phone what to do on your computer.

Two installs, one on each side

The agent lives in the cloud and the computer is with you. So you set up once on the computer you want to control, and once in the agent. No code, no settings.

On your computer

  1. Download andsInstall the app on the computer your agent should work on and give it Accessibility access. It takes half a minute.
  2. Press “Connect an agent”The app has one button. It makes a private link to this computer.
  3. Copy the linkPress “Copy”. The link is the key, so only give it to your own agent.

In Poke

  1. Open Poke settingsOn the Poke website, under Integrations (or Connections), add a new MCP server.
  2. Add an MCP server by URLName it something like “My computer” and paste the link from ands. Can’t find where? Send Poke the message below and it will tell you.
  3. Use it in a chatText it what to do on the computer. Anything sensitive waits for your OK.

The message to send your agent

Paste the link from ands, copy the message and send it to your agent as is. It connects itself.

Hi Poke, I want to connect you to my computer through ands (ands.sh) so you can work on it for me.

Here is the MCP server link for my computer:
[your link from ands]

Please add it as an MCP server by URL (remote MCP, sometimes called a custom connector) and tell me when the connection works. If you can't add it yourself, tell me exactly where in your settings I add it.

Once connected you can see what's on the screen, click, type and open apps on my computer. Anything sensitive (sending, paying, deleting, installing or signing in) waits for my OK, so when you get an approval request, pass its link on to me.

What to send Poke

  • “Save the files from the last email into the client folder on my computer”
  • “Check whether the render finished on my home computer”

Your agent asks, you approve

Approve on the computer or from your phone

Every action your agent takes goes through the same check as yours. Reading goes through. Sending, paying, deleting, installing and signing in wait for your OK: on the computer’s screen or, when you’re away from it, through a link ands sends you via your agent that opens on your phone.

The agent can’t approve itself

Only you, signed in to your ands account, can press “Approve”. A phone that signed in only after the request was sent can’t approve it, so even an agent that reads your email can’t approve its own step.

The link is stored hashed

We keep only a fingerprint of the link, not the link itself. Pressing “Disconnect” cancels it at once.

Autopilot, if you want it

In autopilot ands doesn’t ask, it just does. You turn it on only in the app’s settings on the computer, never from the agent, and apps you marked “don’t touch” stay blocked.

Questions

Through the link, your cloud agent gets ands’s tools: see what’s on the screen, click, type and open apps. It sends a request, ands carries it out on your computer and sends back the result.

No. On the computer you press a button and copy a link. In the agent you paste it. That’s it.

No. Sending, paying, deleting, installing and signing in always wait for your OK, on the computer or through the link on your phone. If you don’t answer within 15 minutes, it doesn’t happen. The only exception is autopilot, which only you can turn on, on the computer.

ands works only while the computer is on and the app is open. When it’s off, your agent is told the computer isn’t available, and nothing happens.

Yes. Each press of “Connect an agent” makes a separate link, and you can disconnect each one on its own.

They can ask for actions but can’t approve them, and you see everything on screen. If a link leaks, press “Disconnect” and make a new one.

No. In the app it’s included in the $20 a month plan. Developers can connect an agent for free from the terminal with npx andsh link.
